The Central Criminal Court in the United Kingdom has adjourned the organ harvesting case involving Ike Ekweremadu, a former Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, until October 31.
FIJ learnt that the lawmaker would remain in custody till the new trial date.
Ekweremadu is facing trial in the UK alongside Beatrice, his wife. The couple were arrested by the Metropolitan Police on June 23 for charges bordering on conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of one David Nnwamini, 21, in order to harvest his organ.
While the Westminster Magistrate’s Court has denied the lawmaker bail several times, his wife was granted bail on July 26

The Ekweremadus have pleaded not guilty to the charges against them and are being tried alongside Obinna Obeta, a Nigerian doctor practicing in the UK, who allegedly plotted with the couple to harvest Nwamini’s kidney.
