Olalekan Adisa, an SME owner in Ibadan, Oyo State, has accused Ebeosi Nigeria Ltd., an e-commerce store, of failing to give him some assets he is entitled to as a beneficiary of the Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) loan.

Adisa told FIJ that he received an asset-based loan of N468,000 from NIRSAL in November 2021 but Ebeosi Nig Ltd., his disbursement channel, refused to release the loan to him.

The SME owner said that he had called Ebeosi several times and the company no longer answered his calls.

“After I submitted and signed some documents which they requested from me, they assured me that I would be given the assets in no time, but I haven’t received them,” Adisa told FIJ.

He said that despite not receiving the assets, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had pinned the loan on the account created for him.

He said that only one of the three beneficiaries of NIRSAL attached to Ebeosi had received their assets.

“I did all Ebeosi Nig Ltd. asked me to do. I signed and submitted the documents I was supposed to send to them and they even acknowledged it,” he said.

“Later, I would call them to ask why I was yet to receive my assets, but the woman who used to speak for them would blame it on the numerous applicants they had.

“But as of now, Ebeosi has not given me my goods. NIRSAL is insisting that they have since disbursed the funds to Ebeosi and I can see it from my account on the NIRSAL app.”

FIJ made several calls to Ebeosi Nig Ltd., but they were not answered. Also, the firm had not replied to the text messages sent to them at press time.
