Williams Ogbemedia Idemudia, a Nigerian suspected to be the mastermind of an alleged human trafficking syndicate operating in Nigeria and Ghana, is reportedly on the run.

According to the Ghanaian Times, seven other Nigerians, who happen to be members of Idemudia’s syndicate, have been remanded in prison by a court in Accra, the country’s capital.

It was reported that the accused persons trafficked 20 yet-to-be-identified Nigerians into Ghana and forcibly engaged them in cyber-crime activities.

The syndicate members were arrested on August 29, based on an intelligence report sent to Ghanaian law enforcement officers the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) in Nigeria.

As the search for Idemudia continues by both Nigeria and Ghana, the arrested members are currently facing numerous charges bordering on human trafficking, assault and participating in organised crime in Accra.

They have however denied the charges during their first appearance in court last week.
