Professor Adigun Agbaje, the former Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics) of the University of Ibadan who was abducted on Friday, has regained his freedom.

Agbaje was on his way to Ibadan at about 6pm on Friday when kidnappers blocked his way very close to the Sat Guru Maharaji Garden, reportedly eliminating some policemen around the scene before making away with their captives.

The abductors subsequently contacted his family to demand a N50 million ransom.

His release was confirmed to FIJ on Sunday by multiple sources in UI’s Department of Political Science, where Agbaje is held in high esteem.

A professor of Political Science, he is one of UI’s most respected products ever and is loved by majority of his students.
