United Nigeria Airlines has refunded Oluseyi Adenusi, a pastor based in Bayelsa, a sum of N302,000 for flights cancelled in November.

Adenusi, a pastor based in Bayelsa State, had bought the tickets on behalf of three guest ministers who had been invited to a church programme he was hosting.

Between November 19 and 23, Adenusi got email messages from United Nigeria Airlines three times, and the messages had the same content. The airline had cancelled the flights he booked due to “operational reasons.”

Withheld for more than four months, the money was refunded one month after FIJ reported how the airline refused Adenusi his refund. Adenusi had told FIJ on March 21 how the airline reached out to him of their own volition and promised him a refund following FIJ’s story.

However, he didn’t get his refund until March 25. He told FIJ that he noticed the full refund at around midday on Monday.

Refund receipt obtained by FIJ

“Good morning, sir. United Nigeria Airlines just sent my full refund of N302,000. Thank you very much. I am immensely grateful. I was not sent any mail. I just received an alert of N302,000 from United Nigeria Airlines, which was the amount spent to buy the tickets,” he said.

United Nigeria Airlines had originally promised Adenusi that he would get a refund within four weeks in November 2023. However, the time elapsed, and they failed to refund him.
