Hicash and 9Cash, subsidiaries of Cashbus, an online personal loan agency, have falsely accused Queeneth Ajibade (not real name), one of their loan beneficiaries, of sleeping with a dog.
This was a day after the date Ajibade was to repay N50,000 and N32,500 loans with interests to Hicash and 9cash respectively.
On Monday, the loan outfits sent out messages with Ajibade’s image, alleging she was being investigated by one Constable John Akpoborie. The message read:
At about 4:00pm on 22th May, 2022, Queeneth Ajibade met with a white man in an hotel, got Queeneth Ajibade paid to sleep with a dog which was caught by the press trailing him all the way from Lagos. The ID cards shows clearly that the casualty resides at Ikorodu, Lagos, Nigeria. Which makes Queeneth Ajibade suffers from a spinal cord injury and currently in ICU at Area P hospital. The family is really in need of financially. Kindly reach out to them and support him financially as nothing is small as regards his current.
Ajibade told FIJ that her agreement with the company was to add interest on the loan for each day she defaulted, but she started getting harassed a day after her due date.
She said she borrowed from the companies on May 17 and 19, and was to repay on May 23 and 25.
“They texted me with different numbers and said their agents had nothing to lose, and would send messages to my contacts,” Ajibade told FIJ.
She said she dared them to go ahead, and they began to send her screenshots of messages sent to her contacts. One agent called her and referred to her as a fraudster and a thief.
When FIJ called Cashbus’ official number, an agent said they were familiar with Ajibade, but were unable to speak to our reporter on the topic.
