12.04.2023 Featured 11 Suspected Internet Fraudsters Arrested in Borno ‘Sting’ Operations

The Maiduguri zonal command of the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested eleven suspected internet fraudsters in Borno State.

The anti-corruption agency made this known in a statement released via its Twitter handle on Wednesday.

According to the EFCC, the arrests were made in two separate ‘sting’ operations following credible intelligence on the alleged criminal activities of the suspects in the Jere and Maiduguri local government areas of the state.

The suspects are “Olatunji Sherif, Bright Felix, Jude Linus Magaji, Jonah Jondi, Ojoboro Abdullahi, Jerry Zizighi, Micah Joseph, Mari Ayuba, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Adam Abiodun and Victor Chinonso Okolieaboh”.

The items recovered from the suspects’ residences, according to the agency, were “one Mercedes Benz GLK350, a Toyota Corolla saloon car, smartphones, MTN 4G Wi-Fi, and power banks”.

The commission stated that the suspects would be tried in court as soon as investigation was concluded.
