Two months after Arik Air cancelled the flight of a Benin-based job seeker, the airline has failed to refund the ticket fee of N50,500.
The job seeker, who does not wish to be named, told FIJ that she booked an Abuja-Port Harcourt flight on March 31 and the flight was scheduled for April 17.
On April 3, Arik Air sent a message to notify her that the flight had been cancelled due to operational reasons. FIJ learned that the woman had to book another flight with a different airline.

“After my flight was cancelled two weeks before the intended departure date, I immediately lodged a complaint to their refund unit via email,” she told FIJ.
“I have since written numerous follow-up emails and filled out the refund request form, but I am yet to receive a response or my money returned from them.
“All phone attempts have been unsuccessful. My messages on social media are also being ignored.”
According to the Benin resident, Arik Air’s refund policy indicates that refunds are to be processed within 10 to 40 working days.
“But that timeframe has passed, because it’s been over 60 days since I submitted the refund form, yet I have not received my money from the airline,” she said.

On Friday afternoon, FIJ sent an email to Adebanji Ola, the airline’s communications manager, but he had not responded at the time of this publication.
