Emakhu Peace, a student of Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, has narrated how she became a victim of Davo Shedrach Joshua’s forex investment scam.

Peace told FIJ that she got to know of Joshua’s investment offer when Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju, a popular media influencer better known as Bobrisky, asked his followers to click on a link he posted on his Instagram page last week.

“Bobrisky said we should follow it for giveaway and trade. When I clicked on the link, I was directed to an Instagram page and the guy asked us to click on a link. It led to his WhatsApp number and I saved it,” Peace said.

“I transferred N25,000 to the ‘forex trader’ who sent me his bank account details with the name, Davo Shedrach Joshua on Tuesday. He told me I would receive N125,000 the following day.

“The original cost of the investment is N50,000. But to ‘encourage’ people, Joshua said ‘two interested investors’ could pair with each other and pay N25,000 each.

“I sent him a message that I would like to pair. He sent me his account number and I transferred N25,000 to him on Tuesday, October 18. But after sending him the payment evidence, he ignored my chat.

“When he updated his WhatsApp status, I messaged him, and he said he was just pairing me.

“Then on Wednesday morning, he posted on WhatsApp that anyone who traded the previous day should send him a DM, which I did. But since then, he has not replied me.

“Even if he won’t pay the profit, he should return my N25,000.”

When FIJ searched for Joshua’s page on Instagram, it was inaccessible.

Coincidentally, a similar search on Facebook revealed a page with the name, Francis Bane.

The phone number on Francis Bane’s page tallied with the WhatsApp number the ‘forex trader’ had used to scam the two victims who had so far spoken to FIJ about his fraudulent scheme. The phone number is 09137588152.

FIJ had earlier reported how the forex trader refused to refund the N50,000 belonging to Blessing Nwonu, a resident of Ile-Ife, to her.

Nwonu had ‘invested’ the sum with Joshua last Saturday with the hope of getting N200,000 in return on Sunday.

In his conversation with Nwonu, the ‘forex trader’ had sent an account number with the name Barinamda Joshua Koteh to her.

At the time Peace reported the incident to FIJ, Bobrisky had already deleted the post from his Instagram page.

A message was sent to Bobrisky on Snapchat, an instant messaging app, for comments on the issue, had not been responded to at press time.

The ‘forex trader’ has also not responded to the messages FIJ sent to him as his number has remained switched off.
