After holding back for three months, Wakanow has refunded N47,000 to Oluwatosin Tabitha Sanusi, a Lagos State resident who was affected by Dana Air’s cancellation of operations in July.

This came four days after after FIJ’s report on the company’s refusal to do the needful in the event of a flight cancellation.

Sanusi told FIJ on Friday that she got an email from Wakanow on the refund. She checked her account and confirmed it had truly been credited.

“I got an email from Wakanow that my account had been credited since October 5, but I did not receive any credit alert. I had always checked my account without seeing any credit information from them,” she said.

Expressing her joy, Sanusi told FIJ, “Thank you for your help. I went to the bank today and it was there in the account.”

FIJ reported on Tuesday how Wakanow, a travel agency located in Lagos State, continued to hold on to Sanusi’s ticket fee more than three months after applying for a refund.

Sanusi had told FIJ that she reserved a Lagos-Abuja flight seat for her uncle, Bello Ajayi Lawalson, through Wakanow on July 19, but on the departure day, Dana Air, the airline Lawalson had hoped to fly with, cancelled their operations.

She said that upon the cancellation of the flight, she applied for the refund of her money and despite persistent email communication, Wakanow did not pay back her money, even after claiming they had done that on July 28.
