Wakanow has made a refund of N138,000 to Kaatje Vanwolleghem, a Lagos-based Belgian, two months after a flight she had booked via the agency’s platform for her daughter and herself was cancelled.

Vanwolleghem confirmed receipt of the refund to FIJ on Wednesday.

The Belgian excitedly told FIJ that she had received an email from the online travel agency on October 12 stating that the sum had been credited into her account.

“I received an email from Wakanow on October 12 communicating the refund of my money to me, with a bank receipt of the transaction. I am happy at the moment,” she said.

On October 10, FIJ had reported how Wakanow failed to refund her money after she cancelled a Lagos to Owerri Air Peace flight she had initially booked in August.

Vanwolleghem was forced to cancel the booking she made via Wakanow because Air Peace rescheduled departure time from 12 midday to 7:00 a.m on August 8, an arrangement she did not find convenient.

The online travel agency then went on to hold on to Vanwolleghem’s refund for two months.
