Bandits have released 28 students abducted from Bethel Baptist High School, Damishi area of Kaduna State.

This was confirmed by TheCable after speaking with Joseph Hayab, Kaduna State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigerian (CAN).

This is the third time some of the abductees would regain freedom since they were taken away from their hostels on July 5.

On July 12, Abraham Aniya, one of the students, was rescued by security operatives alongside two other victims along Kaduna-Kachia road.

Again, on July 21, two other students escaped from captivity when they were asked to fetch firewood in the forest.

Mohammed Jalige, the spokesman of the Kaduna State Police Command, was reported as saying that the two students were “rescued on Wednesday evening by police operatives in Rijanna area along the Kaduna-Abuja highway”.

Although the Nigerian Government often shows unreadiness to negotiate with bandits for the release of abductees, most of the time the hostages are released because their families yielded to the demands of the captors.
