Gbemisola Fasiku, an Oyo State resident, has confirmed to FIJ that Ademola Adeniyi, an estate manager, has refunded the N120,000 he dubiously collected from her friend as part payment on accommodation.

Fasiku told FIJ on Tuesday that Adeniyi had first made a refund of N80,000 in September, a month after FIJ’s report on the matter, before finally paying a N40,000 balance on Friday.

“I am really grateful, thank you,” a delighted Fasiku said.

“He paid N80,000 in September, and then the remaining N40,000 on Friday.”

FIJ had earlier reported how Fasiku became good friends with Adeniyi on Facebook in 2021.

In the months that followed, Adeniyi had asked Fasiku to help him get clients who needed to rent apartments because he was a house agent. Fasiku had subsequently introduced a friend who happened to be in urgent need of an accommodation to the agent.

In the end, however, Adeniyi would swindle the accommodation seeker of N120,000.

After collecting the amount from Fasiku’s friend, Adeniyi became evasive. He would also claim that the landowner had leased the property to other accommodation seekers.
