Arik Air has returned the luggage of Olasupo Abideen, the businessman who boarded the airline’s Ilorin-Abuja flight on Wednesday only to find his belongings missing.

On Wednesday, FIJ had reported how Abideen boarded Arik Flight 403, Class Y at 1:30 pm with seat number 11 E and checked in two bags, but to his “utmost dismay”, he was only able to recover one luggage at the arrival lounge.

The passenger also stated that the missing bag contained vital documents such as his international passport, dollar debit cards, internet banking tokens, $625, chargers (iPhone 12 Pro max, Redmi Xiaomi and Nokia), books and a few clothes.

“Arik Air has so far not been helpful in locating the bag, which was properly checked in before I left Ilorin,” he further said on Thursday.

However, after FIJ published the story, the previously uncooperative airline became responsive to his enquiries and eventually delivered the luggage to him at his hotel in Abuja on Thursday evening.

Abideen stated that all the contents of the bag are still intact, save the $625 that was also supposed to be there.

“I’m happy I finally have my luggage but I have demanded for an explanation on how my bag went missing,” he told FIJ.

“I have also demanded for a refund of my missing $625. I also need to get compensated for the anguish and inconvenience I was caused all through the period my bag couldn’t be found.”
