The Police in Abuja have detained Sola Samuel, an inspector attached to its Lugbe division, for raping his 15-year-old step daughter and attempting to cover it up with the help of his colleagues.

On Monday, FIJ had reported how Inspector Samuel’s wife caught him red-handed while raping his stepdaughter, after a period of suspecting he was having carnal knowledge of her.

Following the report, the Police said they were working to ensure justice is appropriately served to anyone found guilty in the rape incident.

Speaking with FIJ, Mariam Yusuf, an Assistant Superintendent of Police and Public Relations Officer of the Police in FCT, said a higher police authority than the Lugbe Divisional Police Station had taken over the case.

“I just want you to know that as I speak with you, justice is prevailing.  As a matter of fact, the case has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department of the FCT Command.

“Investigation is still ongoing because we would like to clarify a lot of things. He is currently in detention as I speak with you. We will make sure that everyone who deserves justice gets it. We have to get one or two things together then vet the complainants’ views.”

Investigations by FIJ show that Inspector Samuel was still a free man as of Sunday evening but he hadn’t been seen in his house since yesterday, potentially lending credence to ASP Yusuf’s arrrest claims.
