25.01.2023 Featured After FIJ’s Story, First Bank Refunds Scientist’s N124,510 Withheld for 40 Days

First Bank has reversed the sum of N124,510 to a Nigerian catchment scientist living in England, who was debited twice for an online transaction.

This came two weeks FIJ reported that despite measures taken by the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, he did not get his money.

In a joyful tone, the catchment scientist told FIJ that First Bank refunded his money on Monday evening.

“Thank you, FIJ, for assisting me with this case. I’m very grateful. This case wouldn’t have been resolved without your intervention,” he said.

Earlier, FIJ reported how First Bank debited the catchment scientist twice on December 13 for the same service.

He contacted the bank immediately after realising that they had debited him twice, and their staff assured him they would resolve the issue within three days.

Days after he first called the bank, the problem remained the same. At some point, the source said, the bank became inconsistent with its replies.

However, nine days after FIJ’s intervention, the bank resolved the problem.
