Qatar Airways is yet to make a N360,360 refund to Jude Okey, an Abuja resident whose Doha-to-Amsterdam flight was cancelled by the airline.

Speaking with FIJ on Monday, Okey said the airline was yet to pay him despite receiving several calls and reminders from him.

“They are yet to pay me the N360,360 despite the several mails I sent to them and the many phone calls I made to the airline,” Okey said.

“It has been over two months and they have continued to keep mum over my money. I don’t think that is fair. I want Qatar Airways to pay me back my money.”

On February 13, FIJ reported how the airline cancelled the flight that was supposed to convey Okey and his family from Doha in Qatar to Amsterdam in the Netherlands, promising to make a full refund of N2,518,732, being the flight ticket expense, to him.

In the end, Qatar Airways reneged on its promise and only made a part payment of N2,158,372 to Okey.

After this, Okey reached out to the airline, demanding to know why he had not been paid back in full.

Despite several emails and phone calls to Qatar Air, the outstanding N360,360 has still not been paid to Okey.

According to Airhelp, a claims management company that promotes and enforces air passenger rights in cases of flight disruptions globally, with any Qatar Airways flight cancellation, passengers are entitled to an alternative flight to their destinations. Passengers can also get their monies back in full if it’s their preference.

In addition, if a flight is cancelled less than 14 days before departure to a European airport, EU laws say passengers may be entitled to up to $700 per person in compensation.
