A faceoff between military officials and members of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), a Yoruba nationalist organisation, ensued at Oluwadare House 23 polling unit in the Fola Agora area of Lagos State.

The incident began when an OPC supporter spotted wearing a cream colour jalamia harassed a Yoruba lady, who he thought was Igbo. Not long after, military officials arrived, as well as other security personnel.

Soldiers dispersed the OPC members, who then began destroying houses and properties of Igbo people in the neighbourhood. One was heard saying, “You Igbos, you will die. Shebi you want to vote LP. “

More security officers were seen arriving at the polling unit.

Meanwhile, OPC members sealed the gates leading to the street and called for reinforcement, with over 100 of them armed with machetes and wearing face masks on the streets.

At the time of filing this report, they were attempting to demolish the property in front of the polling unit because it was owned by an Igbo man.

This reporter was unable to take pictures and videos as the events unfolded because she went into hiding.
