27.08.2021 news JUST IN: Abducted Zamfara College of Agric Students Regain Freedom

Fifteen students abducted from the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura, Zamfara State, have now regained their freedom.

Aliyu Atiku, the Deputy Registrar of the college, confirmed this to FIJ in a telephone conversation on Friday.

The students and their co-abductees, including teachers, are currently being hosted at the government house in Zamfara.

A group of bandits had invaded the school on August 15, killing a police officer and a local guard.

The bandits would later demand a ransom of N350 million a few days after the abduction.

FIJ was yet to confirm if the bandits had renegotiated the ransom with the families of the school before this release.
