Justice Hamzu Muazu of the FCT High Court has restrained Julius Abure, the National Chairman of Labour Party; Farouk Ibrahim, the National Secretary; and two other national executive members from exercising their offices as national officers of the party.

Justice Hamza made the order while ruling on an ex-parte application by one James Onoja.

According to a media report, other executive members stripped of their functions are Clement Ojukwu, the National Organising Secretary, and Oluchi Opara, the National Treasurer.

The applicant had told the court how the suspended national officers allegedly forged several documents of the FCT High Court to carry out a series of substitutions during the last elections.

While presenting several documents, the senior counsel for the applicant also argued his position to justify the need to suspend the officers. Onaja, through his counsels, tendered documents confirming to the judge that the chief registrar of the court wrote to the Labour Party to disregard many documents used by Abure and his co-travelers for the alleged criminal activities.

Relying on the presented documents and affidavits, Justice Muazu summarily held that the application was a good case for the applicant’s request to be granted.

He subsequently ordered the accused four officers to stop parading themselves as the national executive officers of the Labour Party.
