Justice Ibironke Harrison of a high court in Lagos has dismissed a no case submission filed by Drambi Vandi, a suspended assistant superintendent of police.
Vandi allegedly killed Omobolanle Raheem, a Lagos-based lawyer, on December 25, 2022.
Through his counsel, Adetokunbo Odutola, he sought the court to dismiss the suit initiated against him, claiming he had no case to answer.

Part of Odutola’s argument was that none of the witnesses saw Vandi fire, and the ballistics report of the gun allegedly used to fire the bullet specifically stated that it could not be connected to any of the weapons found at the scene.
Odutola further argued that in contrast to the prosecution’s claim that the dead was shot in the chest, the pathologist who testified mentioned that the bullet entered the body from the left through the armpit.
However, the prosecution counsels, led by the Attorney General of Lagos State, Moyosore Onigbanjo (SAN), countered the arguments and urged the defendant to defend himself, insisting that the prosecution had successfully made its case against him.
The court rejected Vandi’s application on Monday, ordering the defendant to open his defense as a prime facie had been made against him.
