Police in Abuja have rearrested Nnamdi Chude, a vocal supporter of the Labour Party (LP), over alleged defamation.

Sources familiar with the matter told FIJ that the police arrested Chude after Emeka Offor, a businessman, sued him.

The sources said Offor took legal action over a tweet Chude made after the presidential election, alleging that Offor and Tinubu had made attempts to get Peter Obi, LP presidential candidate, to accept the result of the election.

They said the police arrested him at noon, and he would be arraigned for trial on Thursday.

This came one month after Chude was arrested in Anambra and taken to Abuja where he was detained and later released.

Josephine Adeh, spokesperson for the Abuja Police Command, told FIJ that she was unaware of the arrest, and asked that we contact the Force Headquarters.

FIJ called Muyiwa Adejobi, spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force, but he did not answer our calls. He had also not responded to a text message sent to his number at press time.
