The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) wants Usman Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, to probe Yunusa Ari, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Adamawa State.
The decision came two days after Ari announced Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, as the Adamawa State governor-elect when the collation of results had not been concluded.
INEC had immediately suspended the collation process in Adamawa over the premature announcement by the REC.
In a post on its Twitter page on Tuesday, the commission said the returning officer in the state would determine the resumption of collation.
