OPay has unfrozen the account of Uthman Quseem, an akara (beans chips) seller in the Muslim area of Ibadan, who could not access his savings for over one year.

This came about two weeks after FIJ reported how the international relations graduate had been unable to have access to the N90,830 in his Opay account since he transacted with a customer in March 2022.

“The issue has been resolved. Opay unfroze my account this night. So, I can now access my money in the account. I really appreciate FIJ,” Uthman said late night on Tuesday.

On June 17, FIJ reported the difficulty Uthman had been facing since his account got restricted by the fintech. Despite Uthman’s efforts, including physical visits to OPay’s office in Ibadan, the fintech had failed to resolve the issue.

Femi Hanson, OPay’s spokesperson, promised FIJ that the company would look into the complaint, and about two weeks after, the account is back running.
