OPay, a fintech company, has made a refund of N77,000 to Ozoemena Adolphus, a Lagos-based civil servant, whose account was debited after he tried to purchase an air ticket with Dana Air.
Adolphus confirmed that he received the refund from OPay on Monday afternoon.
“I have now received the refund from OPay,” he told FIJ.
“I nearly lost hope on this money. Thank you, FIJ.”

On Friday, FIJ reported how Adolphus’ N77,000 was stuck between OPay and Dana Air.
“On July 20, I attempted to schedule a flight with Dana Air but it was unsuccessful,” Adolphus told FIJ.
“I used my OPay account for the payment but it was not successful.
“However, despite the status of the transaction, my account was debited and N77,140 left my account.
“I have reached out to both Dana Air and OPay to complain about the failed transaction.
“I have also provided them with all the necessary details and documentation but I am yet to receive a refund of the deducted amount.

“I need to get my money back from them as they keep playing me.”
FIJ had contacted both OPay and Dana Air for enquiries on the withheld money. While there was no response from Dana Air, the fintech company said they would look into it.
Adekunle Adeyemi, OPay’s Head of Marketing, later contacted FIJ on Monday afternoon and stated that the customer’s refund had been disbursed.
