Arik Air has refunded N107,000 to Thelma Mbakwe, a Plateau State resident, three months after her Jos to Lagos flight got cancelled twice.

Mbakwe told FIJ that the airline made the refund on Wednesday morning.

“Thank you, FIJ. I am grateful to you for helping me get my money back from Arik Air,” an excited Mbakwe said.

On August 18, FIJ had reported how the airline cancelled the passenger’s flight twice and then withheld her refund for close to three months.

In June, the Plateau State resident had paid N107,000 to the airline for a round trip flight ticket from her Jos location to Lagos.

She had bought the ticket so she could make a June 15 appointment in Lagos. She was, however, unable to make the appointment due to Arik Air’s decision to cancel her flight.

When Mbakwe first received a notification that her flight had been cancelled, she promptly reached out to an Arik Air customer care representative to reschedule her journey.

To her surprise, the airline would again cancel the rescheduled flight.

Mbakwe would subsequently send an email to the airline, seeking a refund. However, the refund did not happen for three months until FIJ published a story on the matter.
