Thelma Mbakwe, who resides in Jos, has shared her experience of Arik Air’s double flight cancellations and subsequent refusal to return his ticket fee.
Mbakwe told FIJ she initially paid N107,000 for a round trip flight from Jos to Lagos for June 15 due to an appointment she had in Lagos. But she was unable to make it to her appointment, as Arik Air cancelled the flight.
Upon receiving notification of the flight cancellation, she promptly rescheduled her appointment and reached out to an Arik Air customer care representative who advised her to reschedule the flight.

“I rescheduled my flight for June 27 with the return date set for June 29. To my astonishment, the rescheduled flight was once again cancelled,” Mbakwe told FIJ.
“Due to Arik Air’s actions, I incurred costs related to my missed appointment and had to make alternative arrangements due to the urgent nature of my situation.”
Mbakwe stated that she sent an email on June 14, seeking a refund within seven days after facing disappointment from the airline for the second time.

On June 16, the airline provided her with a refund form to complete, which she duly filled out. But they subsequently informed her that she would need to wait for 40 working days.
Upon the conclusion of the 40-day period, the airline failed to refund her.
FIJ reached out to the company via email for comments, but as of press time, no response had been received.
