Ignatius Egere, a resident of Cross River State, has received his order from Benjamin Ononivami Peacemaker, a clothing store owner with social media presence.

This delivery took place seven months after FIJ reported how the store owner received a payment from Egere but refused to deliver his order.

“I was shocked over the weekend when the vendor that collected my money earlier in the year and refused to supply the wares chatted with me. If you can recall, you carried out your investigation and confirmed the information,” the Cross River State resident told FIJ in a WhatsApp message on Wednesday.

“He called me and apologised. As I write, he has supplied the wares to me. I just want to inform you and thank you for what you are doing pro bono. God will surely reward you.”

FIJ understands that the clothes were substituted because Peacemaker could not supply the ones his customer originally ordered.

On March 30, FIJ reported how Peacemaker cut ties with the customer by blocking him on Facebook and WhatsApp, the only channels through which the customer could reach him.

The vendor had a Facebook page, Ben Hubs, where he was advertising clothing materials. It was through this medium that Egere connected with him and paid for two pairs of clothes for N52,000.

“He proved my fear right when he blocked me on Facebook and WhatsApp channels. It is difficult for me to come to terms with the fact that I fell victim to this fraudster,” Egere told FIJ in March.

Peacemaker evaded FIJ’s effort to get his comment for the story at the time by blocking us the way he did to the customer.

However, when this reporter posed as a potential customer, he responded, giving a shop address in Oyo State, a location different from the one he had given Egere.
