A Lagos-based civil servant has accused the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) of deducting a portion of his salary to repay a loan he didn’t take.

The frustrated civil servant, who requested anonymity, informed FIJ that in September and October, IPPIS deducted N129,650 respectively from his salary to repay a WACS Loan he knew nothing about.

He said IPPIS had been deducting N74,500 to settle an existing loan set to be completed in October. However, instead of following the usual process, IPPIS deducted N129,650 in September and October, according to the civil servant.

What aggravated the situation, he stated, was that IPPIS, without providing evidence of the WACS loan, notified him of the deduction of N129,000 for two more months.

“I can’t comprehend IPPIS’s actions with my funds during these challenging times. After deducting the money from my account, IPPIS failed to pay Credit Direct what I owe. So, I ask, where is the N54,000 going? I am exhausted,” he told FIJ.

“Historically, IPPIS paid Credit Direct, as indicated on my payslip, confirmed by Credit Direct. However, the past two months’ payments to this account named WACS have not been acknowledged.”

When FIJ reached out to IPPIS for comments, calls were not answered. FIJ sent text messages to two of their lines, but there was no response at press time.

Several civil servants recently lamented a sequence of unfortunate salary deductions by IPPIS regarding mysterious WACS loans.
