On October 3, Ini Aderogba (not real name), an Ondo-based civil servant received his pay for the month of September from the federal government. All was well until he saw his payslip and discovered that N12,000 had been deducted by WACS Loan.
Aderogba told FIJ that his salary was paid through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS), and that he didn’t take a loan from WACS.

“I got my salary for September on October 3, and my payslip the following day,” he told FIJ.
“To my horror, N12,282 was deducted for a loan I didn’t request or apply for.”
“The sum was debited and credited to one WACS Loan. I have never heard of it and do not know about them.”

Aderogba insisted the fraud was carried out in collaboration with some staff of the IPPIS who prey on innocent civil servants.
“I didn’t collect a loan from any of such loan accounts. It is very obvious that this loan account did this fraud in collaboration with some staff of the IPPIS in Abuja.
“I took a loan which has been offset since April 2023. I do not owe anyone.”
FIJ found on Facebook through a group named ‘IPPIS public discussion’ that Aderogba is not the only victim of the fraudulent deductions made to WACS Loan.
Taiwo Akp, another civil servant, shared that he had finished paying his loan in July and August but his salary account was still debited of N95,195.
“Please, house WACS Loan account debited N95,195 from my September salary, even after completing some of my IPPIS loans in July and August,” he wrote.
“Please, I need your help to resolve this anomaly, as I am left with nothing.”
FIJ understands that the WACS Loan account is a dedicated account by IPPIS to make a lump-sum deduction for a swift third party settlement.
On Friday morning, FIJ sent an enquiry mail to the email address found on the IPPIS website but received no response at press time.
