Usman Ododo, the Kogi State candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Saturday’s off-season elections, has been declared the state’s governor-elect.

Johnson Urama, the deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, announced him winner at the Lokoja collation centre late Sunday.

Ododo polled 446,237 votes against the Social Democratic Party’s (SDP) Muritala Ajaka’s 259,052 votes to emerge winner, clearing 13 out of the 21 local government areas in the state.

This was despite an earlier announcement made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to reschedule elections in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the state.

In third place was Dino Melaye, a former legislator and candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Melaye scored a total of 46,362 votes.
