Chizoba Onumah, an Anambra State resident, has recounted how Niger Insurance failed to release her N359,952.43 for over four years after she requested for it.

Onumah told FIJ that she once had a three-year premium insurance plan with the company and it matured in 2018.

“It is a three-year premium plan that matured in 2018. The sum that was supposed to be paid at the end of the plan was N359,952.43,” said Onumah.

“When I saw that Niger Insurance was reluctant to send me my money, I visited their office in Onitsha and demanded that my life policy be surrendered to me.

“They then gave me a letter, asking me to fill the discharge voucher attached to it. I filled the voucher and submitted it alongside other documents they requested.

“The other documents were the original policy document I was issued, a photocopy of my ID card and a photocopy of my utility bill.

“Since I submitted all they told me to bring in January 2019, I have not heard from the insurance company.”

Onumah told FIJ she subsequently visited the insurance company’s office in Onitsha on numerous occasions hoping she would get paid.

“Unfortunately, the staff members I spoke with did nothing to help,” said Onumah.

“To date, I have not received a dime from the company. It is now more than four years and I have still not received my money.

“They have continued to make promises but have not been forthcoming. I am helpless. I do not even know what to do any more. My money has been with Niger Insurance since 2018.”
