Moses Ayokunle, a Lagos resident, has narrated to FIJ how he had been unable to recover N720,000 he invested with Niger Insurance PLC between 2015 and 2018.

On Monday, Ayokunle told FIJ he began a savings insurance plan with the company on March 1, 2015, and paid N20,000 every month for three years.

He said his plan reached maturity after 36 months and he filed an insurance claim, but he was yet to be paid four years after.

“I signed up for a savings insurance plan in 2015, submitted a claim form when it matured in 2018, but it has been one story to the other since then,” Ayokunle told FIJ.

“I was told at some point that the cheque was ready and they were waiting for someone to sign, but nothing happened. Then they told me another story of them trying to sell their assets to pay customers. Four years after maturity, nothing has happened.”

He said he had reached Feyi Onadeko, his account officer, on multiple occasions but there had been no developments.

When FIJ contacted Onadeko, she said she no longer worked at the company.

She, however, confirmed managing Ayokunle’s account, but said the company was unable to pay as it was “facing some challenges”.

In a telephone interview with FIJ, she said, “The company is having some challenges. I have gone with Ayokunle to the office, and they keep saying they want to sell some assets to pay all their clients.”

When FIJ called the numbers listed on the company’s website, two of the three were switched off, while a lady who picked our call to the third number said she no longer worked with the company and wondered why her number was still on the website.

FIJ sent an email to a listed email address on the website, but as of press time, it was yet to be replied to.
