The Senate has summoned security chiefs to discuss the recent violent attacks and killings in Plateau State.

The red chamber extended invitations to Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff; Hassan Abubakar, Chief of Air Staff; Yusuf Bichi, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS); and Kayode Egbetokun, Inspector-General of Police (IGP).

Diiket Plang, the senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, had called the Senate’s attention to the killings on Saturday. The chiefs are expected to appear before the Senate in a closed session.

This comes on the back of attacks spearheaded by armed men in 17 communities in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi LGAs of the state on December 23 and 24.

The attackers killed residents, looted properties and razed buildings. These incidents drew nationwide criticism of the country’s security architecture.
