Olutola Olufemi (not real name), a social media influencer, was on his way home after his birthday party on Saturday when police officers suspected to be members of the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) arrested him.

While in a Bolt car at 2:46 pm around Ogbogoro, Port Harcourt, five men in one of the numerous police black uniforms stopped Olufemi, saying their boss wanted to interrogate him.

The officers asked him for his age, profession, and full name while it rained heavily in the area. On seeing an iPhone 11 pro with him, the officers asked him to unlock it for a search.

“When they checked my phone, they found nothing that they could use against me. Then they asked me to show them my account balance. I initially showed them my empty accounts, but when one of them pointed his gun at me, I knew I had to send them money,” he said.

“One of the men later said, ‘You wey be young boy no get money and we wey be government workers no get money; how we go do am?'”

When Olufemi agreed to send them money, the officers sent him an account number, insistent that he transfer N50,000 to them. Seeing that he was already in the police web, Olufemi quickly transferred the money.
