The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended all train operations of the Kaduna-Abuja standard gauge station indefinitely over multiple attacks on one of its trains.

In a statement released on its website, the corporation said the suspension is to ensure the safety of passengers.

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, train services have been immediately suspended for the safety of our dear passengers,” the statement reads.

“Efforts are in place to restore service. Further information would follow immediately the service is restored.”

FIJ gathered that there were attempts to derail the Abuja-Kaduna train seven (AK7) while enroute Kaduna on Wednesday night.

Also, the thickness of the train’s locomotive engine saved it from a crash after stepping on an explosive while returning to Abuja on Thursday morning, according to a source.

The spokesperson for the Kaduna service, who simply identified as Emmanuel, told FIJ on Thursday that he was yet to arrive at the office and could not give details of the attack.
