06.11.2021 news Election Officials Absent in Parts of Anambra

Voters in Aniocha Layout, Achalla Ward 2, Polling Unit 11, Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, have expressed concerns over the absence of election officials.

The voters told FIJ at about 10:30 am on Saturday that they arrived early for accreditation but had seen no sign of election officials.

“We have been here since 7 am, some arrived at 8 am, but we have not seen any INEC staff here to make it look like something will happen here today,” one registered voter told FIJ.

Some of them showed their voter cards, saying they were aware that the election would end around 3pm. Some of them were worried that the process was yet to start.

A similar situation was also observed at polling units 4, 5, and 6, Vilage Square, Umunagu, Achalla, Awka.

FIJ earlier reported that police and corps members were stuck in Awka North LGA headquarters as they awaited vehicular mobilisation and food allowance.
