05.12.2021 news PHOTOS: Airplane, Pilot Uniform Cake… Family Marks Late Dowen College Student’s Birthday

Pictures have surfaced online of how the family and friends of the late Dowen College student, Sylvester Oromoni, celebrated his 12th birthday despite his untimely death.

Sylvester Oromoni Snr., the father of the deceased, had earlier invited Nigerians to join them in the celebration of the posthumous birthday on Saturday, saying, “We will celebrate his birthday on the 4th of December. Please, tell Nigerians to join us.”

In one of the pictures obtained by FIJ, Sylvester’s father and siblings cut a cake designed like a pilot’s uniform.

Great Oromoni, Junior’s elder brother, said he wished his brother would come back as they were a team.

“My only little brother, I got you the game you wanted for your birthday. I was gonna send it to Nigeria for you, but I can’t anymore. Just come back, please. I don’t think you’ve left, so please just come back. Who’s gonna disturb me now, ehn?,” Great asked on Instagram.

Many prominent Nigerians, including Wizkid and Sola Sobowale, also posted pictures of the late teenager on social media, wishing that he would get justice.

Sylvester, a junior secondary school student at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos, died on Tuesday after he was allegedly beaten, assaulted, and forced to drink an unknown substance by fellow students suspected to be members of a cult.

Following his death, Nigerians, on different social media platforms, called for justice. Also, the Lagos State Government, through the Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, ordered the indefinite closure of Dowen College, pending the outcome of an investigation into the death of Sylvester.
