Bandits have killed Dauda Bature, a pastor at the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), Hayin Nariya, Kaduna South Local Government Area of Kaduna State, despite collecting a ransom from his family.

The cleric was abducted on November 8, while working on his farm. Subsequently, N5 million was demanded by the bandits.

She was eventually released on December 6 and asked to look for more money.

Joseph Hayab, chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Kaduna chapter, confirmed Bature’s death to TheCable.

“It was yesterday (Friday) that the information came, when our pastors were at a conference, and the leaders of the church went to officially tell the wife that her husband is no more, so that she didn’t continue negotiations with the bandits,” Hayab was quoted to have said.

“What this means is that the bandits have become so cruel and brutal to their victims. They no longer have mercy.

“It shows our government needs to triple what it’s doing. These people cannot be defeated through rhetorics, but with a superior fire. Despite the measures taken, they continue their wickedness.”
