A Twitter user has accused police officers of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of harassing his brother on Tuesday.
The incident, according to the man, happened at Apple Junction in the FESTAC area of Lagos State.
“SARS or whatever they call them are still out there harassing people. They stopped my younger brother at Apple Junction, FESTAC, on his way to enroll for NIN. They didn’t find anything incriminating on his phones, yet they threatened, beat him and collected every money he had on him,” he wrote.

Following a series of protests against police brutality in October 2020, Mohammed Adamu, Inspector General of Police, disbanded the squad. But several months after, there are claims that SARS officials are in operation.
Commenting, several social media users said the supposedly disbanded unit is still functional.
“I see em on the highways with that their sienna,” one of them said.
