Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, ASUU president, made the declaration at a press conference on Monday.

“You cannot be a minister and a lecturer in a university. It is an encouragement of illegality,” said Osodeke.

“Pantami has to quit as a minister and be tried for doing double jobs within the same federal system. He is not qualified. Pantami should not be treated as a professor.”

The union has also vowed to punish Vice Chancellor of FUTO and all members of the union involved in the promotion.

In September 2021, FUTO promoted Pantami to the academic rank of a professor, along with some other academics at the university, prompting doubts over his eligibility for the promotion.
