Omokehinde Folayemi, a factory worker and student of Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, spent two days in the cell after police arrested him on his way to work on Sunday night and accused him of looking like a cultist.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday, Folayemi cried for help, maintaining that he was innocent.

“I have been arrested by the police. When I got to Ketu from here they said I’m a suspected cultist. Spent two days in the cell now,” said Folayemi.

Tweeting from Alapere police station, he said he showed the police his work and school ID cards but they refused to believe him.

“I’m still in Alapere Police Station [sic]. I’m on my way to work when I was arrested [sic]. I showed them my work ID card and student ID card but they won’t believe me,” he said.

Folayemi further said that the police denied him access to his phone until Tuesday morning.

In what looked like a result of pressures from Nigerians, police eventually released Folayemi few hours after his tweets.
