12.03.2022 Featured After FIJ’s Story, Access Bank Returns Erroneous ₦2.2m Deduction From Customer’s Account

Access Bank has finally rectified the erroneous ₦2.2 million deduction from Jerome Madunezim’s bank account since August 2020.

Jerome had made a $7,451 transaction using his Access Bank Visa card in the last week of July 2020 but was debited an extra ₦2.2 million that was deducted from his empty account, leaving him with -₦2.2 million balance.

Access Bank told him he was debited for a “successful transaction” and stopped addressing his complaints and letters from his lawyer.

However, Access Bank fixed the error 19 months later, and just over a week after FIJ’s report.

“Access Bank has reconciled the account,” Jerome told FIJ on Saturday. “It was like magic. It was on Wednesday.”
