Following the declaration of strike by the leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Tuesday, Nigerians on social media have taken turns to chide the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government for incompetence.
Daily Trust quoted Anderson Ezeibe, National President of ASUP, as announcing the union’s decision to shut down all polytechnics in the country. The strike was to take effect from 12am on Tuesday.
Reacting to the development, some Nigerians on Twitter said the series of strikes in recent times shows that the country is not working under the current administration.
“Very tired of this country; everything about this government is not working. What kind of 2015 mistake is this?” Ejifor Onyishi wrote on Twitter.

Another social media user, TonyMatt, said: “Doctors on Strike, while ASUP was on strike. The most painful part is that our president is on house arrest in London. I think everyone should go on strike including Daily Trust.

Ezeibe had listed non-release of 10-month arrears of minimum wage to polytechnic lecturers and non-implementation of 2014 NEEDS Assessment report among reasons for the strike.
The latest ASUP strike commenced barely five days after the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) embarked on a nationwide strike.
