A traffic robber has been caught on camera snatching a passenger’s phone during night-time traffic congestion in the Mile 12 Area of Lagos.

According to a Twitter user @sama_on_point, who shared the 17-second video, the incident happened on Thursday night.

The social media user accompanied his post saying: “This was captured on my friend’s car dash cam yesterday night around Mile 12, Lagos. A thief snatching someone’s phone in traffic. Stay safe out there folks. Be Vigilant”.

Under the same tweet, many road users narrated their experiences during traffic congestion, with some already taking precautions.

When FIJ contacted Muyiwa Adejobi, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, to find out the plans to end the spate of road robbery, he said the Lagos State Police Command was arresting traffic robbers every day, while more officers had been deployed to the routes such as Ojota, Ketu and Mile 12 — areas in the Lagos mainland reported to be notorious for such crime.

“The command has been on the trail of the traffic robbers and arrested many of them. We arrest them on a daily basis as we have more men on decoy deployed to the route, Ojota-ketu-Mile 12- Ikorodu axis,” he said.

“However, we are working hard to improve on our strategies.”
