@foxytaugtyou, a Twitter user, has narrated how she found hidden cameras in an apartment rented out by AirBnB, a global vacation rentals company with headquarters in the United States.

In a tweet on Monday, @foxytaugtyou said she and her best friend found ten hidden cameras in an AirBnB short-stay apartment in Philadelphia, USA.

“Me and my best friend recently stayed at an AirBnB in Philadelphia and we found hidden cameras. We arrived at about 7:30pm and I just took a regular video and I didn’t even notice,” @foxytaugtyou said.

“One of the cameras was right above a couch, on the ceiling. Me and my friend got there really late. We saw that the place was nice and it was clean, so we just got dressed and went out. When we came back in, we fell asleep on the couch. So when we woke up, and looked up, we saw that this was a camera.”

@foxytaughtyou admitted that neither she nor her friend know who rented the AirBnB apartment to them. She also said the apartment was listed under a business name, but they never met the owner of the apartment.

“Be cautious booking AirBnBs. There were cameras in the showers, bathroom, and bedrooms. Some were disguised as sprinkler systems but it has a camera lens. It was so creepy,” @foxytaughtyou wrote.

“We left immediately we noticed the cameras”.

@foxytaughtyou claimed that AirBnB did not issue a refund but assigned them a new apartment elsewhere. She also complained that the Philadelphia police failed to respond to their distress call.

“We have no idea what footage this owner has and what he is doing with it. This is so unsafe and scary. Thank God we noticed the cameras and got out of there.”

Mary G. of AirBnB Support told FIJ they could not address the issue as she did not know the name of the host.

“We have policies that protect guest from any harm during stay. Everyone is required to submit identity verification before hosting or booking as guest with AirBnB”.

AirBnB safety policy provides a 24-Hour Safety Line. If a guest feels unsafe, AirBnB promises ‘priority access to specially trained safety agents’.
