Most Rev. Badejo Emmanuel, the Catholic Bishop of the Oyo, has challenged President Muhammadu Buhari’s ability to feel the pains of victims of attacks in the country.
Speaking during the mass burial conducted for victims of the Catholic Church attack in Ondo, he urged the President and other government actors to protect Nigerians from the killings and kidnappings ravaging the country.

“How much longer shall these killings continue? How many more Nigerians must die before these senseless killings stop in the country? Those who agreed to the responsibility of protecting the citizens are doing nothing,” he said.
“For the Nigerian armed forces, I wonder if insurgents have grown powerful more than what the entire force and security agencies can handle.”
He tasked leaders in every sector of leadership across the country to be proactive in protecting Nigerians.
“I call on President Buhari and our leaders in the federal government and state governments to wake up, sit up and act up to secure lives and property all over Nigeria. How many more must die? Does life really have any value anymore with you?” the bishop asked.
“Are we to believe that insurgents, bandits, Boko Haram, ISWAP and murderous herdsmen are more powerful than the entire federal government of Nigeria? Is that what we are to believe?”
He described the victims as people with hopes and aspirations who were professionals in different fields.

Bishop Badejo also invited the perpetrators to repentance in this sermon.
“Change your acts, repent and remove bitterness from your hearts. Let’s live in a country that loves more and that is filled with peace,” he said.
He encouraged Christian faithful to be strong, as trials might come but the church would remain steadfast.
St. Francis Catholic Church was attacked on June 5, during Mass, resulting in the death of at least 40 people and injury for scores.
