Christian Ononye, a Nigerian working as a security guard at an Amazon warehouse in Peterborough, United Kingdom, has lost a harassment suit he filed after claiming a colleague ridiculed his diminutive height by comparing him to Gary Coleman, a 1980s American child celebrity.

According to Daily Mail UK, Ononye said the unnamed colleague pinned a picture of the American actor to a wall at work.

Before taking the issue to court however, Ononye had reported it to Richard Unitt, his superior, who instantly ordered that the picture be removed from the wall.

Unitt also carried out an investigation of those on shift, but a lack of CCTV in the area meant the person responsible could not be found.

During a ruling at an employment tribunal in Norwich, Norfolk, Ononye’s case was thrown out after it was held that the picture of Coleman’s head and shoulders could not have meant to mock Ononye’s stature as it was not a full body image.

Before his death in 2010, Coleman had suffered from a condition known as focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, an autoimmune disease which alters the kidneys.

This condition forced Coleman to stop growing when he was four feet eight inches tall.

Ononye was sacked in 2020 for refusing to empty his pockets when he was suspected of stealing after bosses at the site noticed a bulge.
