During the procession held earlier today in Kaduna State by members of Nigerian Labour congress (NLC), one person suspected to be one of the thugs that disrupted the protest was killed.

Speaking on Channels TV’s ‘Politics Today’ on Tuesday evening, Ayuba Wabba, the NLC President, stated that the teenager died on the spot after he was hit by an object.

“They came, they tried to attack the workers throwing stones, we apprehended two and handed over to the police,” he said.

“And nemesis caught up with them just as the band of them were throwing stones and our workers were following them, they hit one of them with the stone and he fell down on the spot and died.

“The person fell there; we left him there. We don’t know whether he’s dead or not but he fell there. He is not among us; he’s less than 16 years of age and he’s one of the thugs.”

So clearly speaking, the police on the scene must taken the corpse.”

Wabba insisted that the protest was peaceful until “hired thugs” came.

The NLC declared strike action following in reaction to the Governor Nasir el-Rufai’s plan to sack some workers in the state.

Kaduna State has been grounded to a halt since the strike began on Sunday midnight.
