Kfouri Suleiman, a Lebanese resident in Jos, Plateau State, has been detained by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for defiling minors.

NAPTIP revealed in a statement on Thursday that 61-year-old Suleiman was being interrogated at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja after he was handed over by the police.

FIJ had reported on Saturday that the Lebanese, also known as ‘The Godfather’, was in the act of luring young girls into his house and taking turns with his dogs to sleep with them. He was said to have defiled about 12 girls out of which many had become pregnant.

Following a suspicion that the police were mishandling the case, a protest broke out in the Abbatoir area of Jos on Friday, May 14. An attempt to destroy Suleiman’s house by angry youth was also said to have been foiled by the police.

NAPTIP said it took over the case after dispatching a team of investigators to Jos on Tuesday.
